The Energy Community Secretariat informed on Friday (10 November) that its Director Artur Lorkowski visited Moldova last week, where he held high-level meetings aimed at “advancing” the country’s energy reform agenda.
During his visit, he met with Moldova’s Prime Minister, Dorin Recean, Minister of Energy, Victor Parlicov, Minister of Environment, Rodica Iordanov, ANRE officials, Members of Parliament and various business stakeholders.
“We stand by Moldova in this journey because we believe that the most efficient way to reduce Moldova’s dependency and enhance energy security is integration with the EU energy markets. Today, we witness the genuine determination of the Moldovan Parliament to prioritize the development of renewable energy,” said Mr Lorkowski during a press conference held in conjunction with Minister Parlicov and Chairman Marian after the final adoption of the Law on renewable energy by the Moldovan legislators.
Mr Lorkowski primarily discussed aligning of Moldova’s energy reform efforts with the EU’s Clean Energy Package and Electricity Integration Package while acknowledging the “significant strides” made by the country in transposing and implementing the EU acquis.
