MOL has completed the sale of 39 filling stations in Slovenia as part of its acquisition of OMV Slovenija

Integrated oil and gas company, MOL Group announced that the previously announced sale of its 39 filling stations in Slovenia to Shell as part of the acquisition of OMV Slovenija has been completed. After the closure of the deal in Slovenia and the company’s expansion in Poland last year, MOL Group has more than 2,500 filling stations in the region.

MOL Group signed on 9 March the sales and purchase agreement with Shell in Slovenia and has now closed the transaction successfully. It covers overall 39 service stations – 19 from MOL Slovenija and 20 from the former OMV Slovenija, now MOL&INA network.

The transaction was a condition set by the European Commission for MOL Group’s recent takeover of OMV Slovenija and was subject to various conditions including clearance by the Slovenian Competition Authorities. The handover of the 39 divested stations is planned to start in October.

Following its acquisition of OMV Slovenija’s network in July 2023, MOL Group emerged as a strong number two in the Slovenian fuel market with more than 130 service stations. In the upcoming days rebranding of the first ex-OMV, now MOL&INA station in Murska Sobota will begin and gradually, within the first half of 2024, all MOL&INA stations will be rebranded.

INA, a member of MOL Group added that upon completion of the Rijeka Refinery Upgrade Project, INA will become the first-choice fuel supplier of the whole MOL Group’s service station network in Slovenia.
