Greece’s transmission system operator DESFA has launched liquified natural gas (LNG) capacity allocation auctions with a horizon of up to 15 years for the Revithoussa LNG Terminal Station.
The annual LNG scheduling auctions for the period 2024-2038 are expected to start on Monday, 9 October 2023, following the approval of the Regulatory Authority for Waste, Energy and Water (RAWEW).
For this purpose, on Tuesday, 3 October 2023, DESFA is organising an online workshop designed to provide guidance to interested users regarding the LNG auction process and all its critical parameters.
“For the first time, DESFA is launching LNG capacity allocation auctions for the Revithoussa LNG Terminal Station, for a period of up to 15 years to address the needs of the market players to have guaranteed capacity access, on a fully transparent TPA and non-discriminatory basis, for LNG imports to reliably and safely serve Greece and the South East European Markets’ natural gas demand, supporting the diversification of the supply sources, security of supply and energy transition,” DESFA’s CEO Maria Rita Galli wrote on social media.
The arrival of the first LNG cargo by MYTILINEOS marked the start of the operation of the floating natural gas storage unit (FSU) in Revithoussa at the end of last year.
