Slovakia supports ‘Solidarity Ring’ project to increase gas trade with Azerbaijan, minister says

Slovakia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Denisa Saková highlighted Slovakia’s support for the “Solidarity Ring” gas corridor project, following a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov on Wednesday (10 April).

The meeting was held to discuss, among other areas, the possibility of transporting gas from the Caspian region to Slovakia.

“Slovakia supports the Solidarity Ring project, which utilises existing infrastructure. This solution would effectively help strengthen the diversification of transport routes and gas sources in the regions of Central and Southeastern Europe, which rely on gas supplies from Russia. The implementation of the project would significantly contribute to the European Union’s efforts to diversify gas routes and sources, especially in this area,” said Deputy PM and Minister Saková following the meeting with her Azerbaijani counterpart.

The Ministers of Economy also discussed the upcoming trade mission, which will take place in Azerbaijan on 6 and 7 May.
