Poland and Slovakia complete gas interconnector

Construction works to connect the Polish and Slovak transmission systems are completed: Poland’s TSO Gaz-System announced that the gas pipeline has been currently filled with gas and its functionality is being tested.

The two-way gas interconnection was developed by Gaz-System and Slovakia’s Eustream for a total length of approximately 164 kilometres. The pipeline is connected with the station of Strachocina in Poland and with the Veľké Kapušany one in Slovakia. Thanks to the new interconnection, it will be possible to import 5.7 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas to Poland annually and 4.7 bcm to Slovakia.

The first gas flow will be tested at the beginning of June and the interconnection will be finally put into operation by the third quarter of 2022.
