The Orlen Group’s PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny will reduce the price of gas for its business customers to 301.72 złotych (64.61 euros)/MWh in May, the company announced on Tuesday (4 April).
The tariff was set by a new pricing method (Gas for Business tariff) introduced earlier this month, as part of which gas tariffs follow prices on the Polish Power Exchange, the company said.
“Once again this year, we will lower the price for our business customers paying according to the price list offer. In March and April, the reduction was 55 per cent, and in May the price will drop by another 15 per cent. This means that entrepreneurs will pay as much as 62 per cent less for gas than at the beginning of this year. Thanks to the strength and stability of the multi-energy concern, we were able to offer business owners discounts as well as a new price-setting formula that better reflects the situation on the Polish and European gas market,” said Daniel Obajtek, President of the Management Board of PKN Orlen.
From 1 April, PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny’s business customers can use a new pricing method under the Gas for Business tariff. The gas price is calculated based on the gas quotations on the Polish Power Exchange.
The first tariff rate under the new pricing method was set at 353.59 złotych (75.73 euros)/MWh, which will be valid from 1 to 30 April. The price for May was calculated on the basis of gas quotations in March, and thus lower by almost 15 per cent than in April.
In accordance with the new way of shaping the Gas for Business price list, the price will be updated on a monthly basis with a new tariff announced a month in advance.
