Bulgaria and Serbia to strenghten cooperation in natural gas and coal supplies

Bulgaria and Serbia’s energy ministers, Rosen Hristov and Dubravka Djedovic discussed cooperation in the field of natural gas and coal supplies. The main focus of the conversation held in Belgrade was the progress in the construction of the Bulgaria-Serbia interconnector.

Mr Hristov assured that the works are proceeding and, for what concerns the Bulgarian section, the deadline will be respected.

“It is important to maintain a constant control and the joint working group is doing an excellent job, which is visible in the progress in the construction”, he emphasised.

Also Ms Djedovic agreed that the interconnector is important for Serbia, not only to provide an additional source of gas supply, but also to strenghten Serbia’s position as a transit country for gas supplies to the Central European region

The two Ministers also discussed coal supplies from a Bulgarian mine to Serbian thermal power plants for which a supply contract was extended for another year.
