The Czech Ministry of the Environment has announced new investments under the Modernisation Fund, worth approximately 1.2 billion euros. The goal is to fund the construction of small photovoltaic power plants in municipalities with up to 3,000 inhabitants, so to create and develop the concept of energy communities.
“Last year, we were able to start financing the modernisation of heating plants, the construction of photovoltaic power plants and the modernisation of industrial companies falling under the EU-ETS,” recalled Petr Valdman, Director of the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic.
“We need the transition to cleaner energy sources while getting rid of dependence on fossil fuels in the context of today’s Russian aggression,” emphasised Anna Hubáčková, Minister of the Environment. “That is why we want to announce at least ten new calls under the Modernisation Fund this year. […] Thanks to these projects, municipalities will move towards greater energy self-sufficiency and will be able to start energy communities.”
