Tanja Kienegger becomes the new managing director at Siemens Mobility Austria

Tanja Kienegger will become CEO of Siemens Mobility Austria starting in October overseeing the transformation and digitisation of railways and implementing sustainable mobility solutions.

Her future area of ​​responsibility will include the management of the regional organisation Siemens Mobility Austria, the two rail vehicle plants in Vienna and Graz and the sales region of Austria and Central and Eastern Europe.

She is currently in charge of the energy division at ÖBB-Infrastruktur responsible for the green and safe energy supply of 6,500 trains in the country every day. She was involved in overcoming the energy crisis and the strategic reorientation, increasing self-sufficiency and energy efficiency of ÖBB-Infrastruktur. To achieve this, the ÖBB Group added photovoltaics and wind energy to its energy mix besides hydropower to achieve its 2030 target of 80 per cent self-sufficiency with renewable energy sources for railway operations.

Beforehand, Ms Kienegger held various management positions at Wien Energie over a period of ten years. She started her career at Robert Bosch Austria and SAGEM Communications Austria.

Tanja Kienegger will replace in October Arnulf Wolfram, who has been responsible for the rail division of Siemens Austria since 2010, he currently successfully manages Siemens Mobility Austria and the associated countries and will retire in 2024.
