Leonhard Birnbaum has been appointed the new CEO of E.ON. Together with all employees at E.ON, he will work hard to shape the energy world of tomorrow in a sustainable manner and ensure that our planet remains a place worth living in.
Mr Birnbaum began his professional career as a management consultant at McKinsey in Düsseldorf. After holding various positions – including at McKinsey’s office in Houston, US – he was Senior Partner for the energy and industrial sector. In 2008, he joined RWE and was appointed to the Board of Management the same year. He served as Chief Strategy Officer and as RWE Group’s Chief Commercial Officer until 2013.
In 2013, Leonhard Birnbaum was appointed as a member of the Board of Management of E.ON SE and took on a variety of responsibilities within the Board. From 2018 until 2021 he was responsible for the innogy integration project. From 2019 to 2020, he was also Chairman of the Board of Management of innogy SE.
