GAZ-SYSTEM’s VP Andrzej Kensbok appointed to GIE Board

The Gas System Infrastructure (GIE) General Assembly has unanimously approved the appointment of Andrzej Kensbok, Vice-President (VP) of Polish gas transmission operator GAZ-SYSTEM, as a Board Member of GIE, a lobby organisation for gas operators in Europe (16 June).

A meeting of GIE’s General Assembly took place in Riga, Latvia, during which decisions were also taken in connection with the discussions on the gas and hydrogen package and the role of natural gas in the process of energy transformation of the EU’s economy.

Mr Kensbok’s “mission” will be focused on strengthening the role of liquified natural gas (LNG) and natural gas as a key element of the ongoing decarbonisation process in the EU, while supporting the energy revolution based on low and zero-emission gases, GAZ-SYSTEM said.

“Together with the new strategy of the company recently adopted by GAZ-SYSTEM, we are becoming a leader – both in Poland and Europe – in the field of sustainable decarbonisation of our economy,” said Mr Kensbok.

Mr Kensbok has been the VP of GAZ-SYSTEM’s Management Board since 1 January of this year. Between March 2021 to December 2022, he was the Vice-President of the Management Board for Finance of KGHM Polska Miedź and was also associated with KGHM in 2019-2020 as the Chief Executive Officer for Strategic Projects and President & CEO at KGHM International in Canada.

He is a graduate of the Catholic University of Lublin, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Philosophy and Theoretical Physics. He also completed MBA studies at INSEAD Business School, specialising in cost management and business process reorganisation.
