During this year’s Budapest Geothermal Energy Summit, we sat down with Miklos Antics, President of the European Geothermal Energy Council, who shared his extensive experience and reflections from the industry, the potential of Central and Eastern Europe and prospects for European geothermal going forward.

2. Ukraine continues to strengthen its energy security
Whilst we enjoy the summer sun, Europe is not wasting with preparations for the upcoming heating season. At the recent Ukraine Recovery Conference, the Ukrainian government, with the aid of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) agreed to jointly mobilise a new financing package for the country’s biggest energy companies. 4. Another step towards European electromobility
Moving to clean mobility, on Tuesday, the European Parliament approved a new legislative proposal on additional alternative charging stations for cars and trucks. The new rules are part of the bloc’s flagship “Fit for 55 in 2030 package,” aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55 per cent by 2030 compared to 1990 levels. 5. Klaipėdos nafta (KN) kicks off operations in Germany
