ORLEN to become biggest service station provider in Czechia

Nearly 90 per cent of service stations in Czechia will be operating under the ORLEN brand by the end of the year, the Polish energy company announced on Thursday (10 August).

The rebranding of the ORLEN Group’s Czech service stations began in 2019 and will enter its final phase in the coming months. In the second half of this year, the company plans to change the logotypes at about 300 stations in the country.

By the end of the year, 370 out of 436 Czech service stations will operate under the ORLEN brand. In Czechia, the company offers traditional and alternative fuels for electric and hydrogen vehicles.

Outside of Poland and Czechia, the ORLEN Group is also present in Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Slovakia and plans to expand into Austria in the near future.

“The establishment of a multi-energy concern allows us to dynamically expand internationally and lead the energy transformation in the entire region. We can implement further investments thanks to the effective use of synergies within one company, which was established after the merger with Grupa LOTOS and PGNiG. Already today we have the largest network of petrol stations in Central Europe – after finalising the purchase of stations in Austria, as much as 44 per cent of retail will be foreign facilities,” said Daniel Obajtek, President of the ORLEN Management Board.

The first two hydrogen stations are already commissioned in Prague-Barrandov and Litvínov, while electric chargers are available at 61 stations across Czechia. This year, the assembly of 150kW fast chargers will also begin on the main transit routes in the Czech Republic.

“We are consistently unifying the brand on international markets so that ORLEN is associated with a wide range of top-quality services. It is not only the release of marketing and operational synergies but also preparation for potential expansion in new areas. The Czech Republic, where we are also a leader in the development of alternative fuels, is a perfect example of how we want to position the ORLEN brand,” Mr Obajtek added.
