Croatian Greyp Bikes to be acquired by Porsche

Porsche Ventures, the venture capital arm of German sports car manufacturer Porsche is acquiring a majority of stakes in Croatian e-bike manufacturer Greyp Bikes.

The news comes as a confirmation of Porsche’s intentions in expanding activities in the electric bicycle segment and micro-mobility which is expected to play a significant role in the future of sustainable transport.

“Porsche is a pioneer of sustainable mobility and is consistently driving forward its e-mobility strategy,” said Lutz Meschke, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG and Member of the Executive Board for Finance and IT.

The company has been a leading provider of plug-in hybrids for years. In 2020, one in three of the vehicles it delivered was fitted with an electric motor, underlined Mr Meschke and added, “our ambitious goal is to have a CO2-neutral balance sheet across the entire value chain by 2030.”

Mate Rimac, the founder of Greyp Bikes and the CEO of Rimac Group which is the owner of Croatian car manufacturer Rimac Automobili will remain a minority stakeholder of the company.
