PGE launches 25 MW photovoltaic farm in eastern Poland

Polish energy company PGE announced on Thursday (1 February) that its subsidiary PGE Zielona Energia has commissioned a photovoltaic farm with a capacity of 25 megawatts (MW) in Augustynka, eastern Poland.

“The launch of the PV Augustynka 1 photovoltaic farm with a capacity of 25 MW will provide green energy for the needs of 12,000 people. households. This is another investment that brings us closer to achieving our strategic goal of having 3 GW of installed capacity in photovoltaic installations by 2030,” said Wojciech Dąbrowski, president of the management board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.

The PV farm is expected to meet the annual power demand of over 12,000 households. The construction of a 110-kilowatt (kV) Augustynka network switching station has also been completed, connecting the power to the national grid.

“The implementation of investments of PGE Energia Odnawialna and PGE Dystrybucja companies belonging to the PGE Group increases the reliability of electricity supply to recipients in the Siemiatycze county, but also fully fits into the country’s energy transformation, increasing the possibilities of connecting new renewables investments,” Mr Dąbrowski added.

The farm is made up of around 46,000 monocrystalline, bifacial panels, which can absorb light from both sides, both directly hitting the cell and reflecting light from the back.
