PGE Energia Odnawialna, a renewable energy subsidiary of Polish state-owned PGE Group, announced on 25 September that it has completed the construction of two photovoltaic (PV) farms – Gutki and Gutki 2 – in the Podlaskie Voivodeship (northeastern Poland) with a total capacity of 12 megawatts (MW).
Consisting of around 22,000 monocrystalline panels, the estimated generation capacity of both farms is over 14 gigawatt hours (GWh) annually which could power nearly 7,000 households, PGE said in a press release.
“The construction of new photovoltaic power plants in Podlasie is the next stage of our investments in solar energy. This project was developed from scratch by PGE Energia Odnawialna. It was implemented using modern photovoltaic modules with a power of over 540 W each. Their technical parameters allow for high productivity in weather conditions typical of the climatic zones found in Poland,” said Marcin Karlikowski, President of PGE Energia Odnawialna’s management board. The project was initiated by PGE Energia Odnawialna by leasing land in 2020. At the end of 2021, construction permits were obtained and construction itself began in mid-2022.The construction of the PV farms is being carried out as part of the Polish government’s “Operational Program for Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020”. Each of the farms received a preferential loan of over 13 million zlotys (650,00 euros) from Poland’s National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, which financed more than 60 per cent of the project’s value. The loans will be repaid over 15 years, with the possibility of a 20 per cent reduction in the value.
