Naftogaz launches pilot solar power plant

Ukraine’s oil and gas company Naftogaz launched the solar power plant Andriyivka in the Kharkiv region. The plant aims to be a pilot project for renewable energy investments of the company.

“Renewable energy is one of the priorities of the Naftogaz Group,” said project manager Serhiy Ovcharenko.

According to him, this approach is in line with global trends in the energy field and several companies under the umbrella of the Naftogaz Group already use solar panels as an additional source of electricity in office buildings.

“The decision of the regulatory authority to grant us licenses for electricity generation is a new page in the success story of our company,” Mr Ovcharenko added.

Further plans in the field of green projects include the completion of the construction of a much more powerful solar power plant in the Zhytomyr region in September this year, as well as the expansion of the network of charging stations in the Ukrainian capital.
