Swiss-based European energy company MET Group has completed the acquisition of a 100 per cent stake in a 60-megawatt (MW) wind park in Bulgaria from the Spanish Grupo Enhol.
The transaction is an important step in achieving MET’s renewables growth targets in the CEE region, which aims for a 500 MW portfolio to be in operation by 2023. With this acquisition, MET brings its wind power operating portfolio in Bulgaria to 102 MW.
At the end of July, MET Group signed a share purchase agreement with Grupo Enhol, a Spanish family-owned company focusing on renewable energy, to acquire its 60 MW Suvorovo Wind Park in Western Bulgaria, on the coast of the Black Sea.
The Suvorovo Wind Park, representing 8,5 per cent of the total installed wind capacity in Bulgaria, consists of 30 Gamesa G90 wind turbines of 2 MW capacity each. The wind farm produces approximately 120 gigawatts-hour (GWh) of electricity per year, supplying power equivalent to the consumption of around 38,000 households.
