Hellenic Cables, one of the largest cable producers in Europe, in a joint venture with subsea utilities’ installation contractor Asso.subsea has been selected by Greek renewable energy company TERNA ENERGY for the design, manufacturing, supply and installation of the 150 kilovolts (kV) submarine cable system which will connect the under-construction 330 megawatts (MW) Kafireas II Wind Farm to Greece’s mainland grid.
“We are very happy to be cooperating with Hellenic Cables in joint forces with Asso.subsea once again,” said Emmanouel Maragoudakis, CEO of TERNA ENERGY. “Our collaboration for the interconnection cable of Agios Georgios wind farm to the main grid, the first of its kind in Greece, was a very fruitful one and we expect that this new project will be nothing less. The excellent teamwork between our companies as well as the expertise of our teams set the foundations for yet another successful project”.
Production of the cables will start soon and the implementation of the project, including the installation and protection of the submarine cable is expected to be completed by June 2022.
