Enel Green Power commissions 63 MW photovoltaic park in Romania

Enel Green Power România, part of Italian renewable energy developer Enel Green Power, commissioned the “Lumina photovoltaic park” in southeastern Romania earlier this month (2 August).

With an installed capacity of 63 megawatts (MW), and an annual electricity production of approximately 99 gigawatt hours (GWh), making it the biggest project in the company’s photovoltaic portfolio.

The new park includes 120,000 bifacial monocrystalline panels, model JA Solar 540 and 535 W, with a life span of 30 years, injected into the national electricity distribution grid using 248 inverters.

The park covers an area of 88 hectares with a linear length of almost two kilometres. In this perimeter, eight secondary substations equipped with weather stations for monitoring environmental parameters and the degree of dust laid on the panels were installed, alongside a dedicated primary substation with an installed capacity of 60 mega volt amp (MVA).

More than 1,200 devices for monitoring solar resources to increase efficiency in the use of solar energy are also installed within the park.

The photovoltaic plant is connected to a 110 kilowatt (kV) high-voltage grid of the concessionaire distribution operator E-Distribuție Muntenia. The estimated energy production will contribute to reducing carbon emissions by 112,387 tons per year, Enel Green Power Români said in a press release.

Enel Green Power Romania currently has an operational green energy portfolio of around 600 MW, consisting of wind and photovoltaic farms. The company operates photovoltaic parks with a capacity of approximately 100 MW in Dolj, Giurgiu and Prahova counties, and is working on similar projects in various stages of development.
