Azerbaijan and Masdar sign agreements for 1,000 MW of green energy projects

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov, together with the President of Azerenergy, Baba Rzayev signed several renewable energy agreements with the Chief Executive Officer of Emirati state-owned renewable energy company Masdar, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi.

The agreements concern the 445 megawatts (MW) Bilasuvar solar power plant, the 315 MW Neftchala solar power plant and the 240 MW Absheron-Garadagh wind power plant.

The agreements were signed on the sidelines of important discussions that took place at Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy and focused on the development of both onshore and offshore green energy projects in partnership with Masdar.

Delegates evaluated the progress of ongoing green energy projects, the involvement of public companies in the upstream sector in both nations and cooperation issues within the framework of COP29.

Constructing the above-mentioned 1,000 MW solar and wind power plants would significantly contribute to their countries’ green energy transition.
