Ukraine’s gas production and storage in line with schedule, Minister says

Ukraine’s gas production and injection into underground storage facilities are taking place according to schedule, alongside an increase in the gas production rate, said Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko during a visit to a gas facility in the central Poltava region this past weekend (12 August).

“It gives confidence to say that by the heating season, all the necessary volume of gas will be pumped into storage facilities. Also, due to the fact that the level of trust of the partner countries in Ukraine is growing, the volume of gas injection from non-residents is also increasing,” Minister Galushchenko noted.

As of August, over 12.3 billion cubic metres (bcm) of natural gas have been injected into Ukrainian underground storage facilities. One-third of Ukraine’s production comes from deposits in the Poltava region.

As noted by Serhiy Lagno, Chief Engineer of Naftogaz Group’s Ukrgazvydobuvannya, mining enterprises have been equipped with alternative power sources, specifically diesel power plants, to ensure stable operation under challenging wartime conditions. Measures are also being taken to enhance their physical protection and provide shelters for personnel.

“Each heating season in the conditions of war becomes more difficult than the previous one, but we understand that we will get through it, in particular, thanks to the work of energy workers and gas industry workers. In these conditions, their work acquires key importance,” Minister Galushchenko said.
