Representatives of Poland’s GAZ-SYSTEM and Slovakia’s state-owned SPP and Peter Gerhart, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy recently discussed opportunities for bilateral gas cooperation and the possibility for Slovakia to access LNG supplies, GAZ-SYSTEM announced on Monday (20 March).
Increasing gas transmission capacity across the CEE region and effective use of existing cross-border interconnections constitute the priorities for both GAZ-SYSTEM as operator of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście and SPP as Slovakia’s main gas distributor, GAZ-SYSTEM said in its press release.
During the meeting in Bratislava, the parties discussed new areas of cooperation related primarily to LNG supplies to Slovakia, in particular from the planned FSRU terminal in Gdańsk.
Cross-border cooperation aimed at providing Slovakia and the remaining part of the region with access to LNG supplies is of strategic importance for GAZ-SYSTEM, the company said.
GAZ-SYSTEM is currently conducting a non-binding market research procedure to gauge the demand for additional regasification capacity at the FSRU terminal in Gdańsk.
