ORLEN to remain strategic gas supplier for Grupa Azoty

Polish energy company, PKN ORLEN and Polish chemical company, Grupa Azoty have entered into new long-term contracts for the sale of natural gas, with the price tariff to be based on gas exchange quotations.

The agreement, signed on Tuesday (20 June), will ensure stable supplies of natural gas to six Grupa Azoty companies for at least three years, ORLEN Group said in a press release.

The new individual contracts concluded between the two sides will enter from 1 October 2023. The estimated value of these new contracts, assuming a validity period of four years, amounts to around 18 billion złotych (4 billion euros), ORLEN said.

The new contracts will also include annexes to the current contracts. As of 1 July, gas supplies will be carried out under the new terms with the market-based pricing system.

Gas supplies will be made to six Grupa Azoty companies: Grupa Azoty Zakłady Azotowe “Puławy,” Grupa Azoty Zakłady Chemiczne “Police,” Grupa Azoty Zakłady Azotowe Kędzierzyn, Grupa Azoty Mines and Chemical Plants of Siarki “Siarkopol” and Grupa Azoty Zakłady Fosforowe Gdańsk.
