GAZ-SYSTEM signs news contracts for new pipeline in Poland

The Polish gas transmission operator, GAZ-SYSTEM, has signed two contracts with a Polish engineering company, ANTEA Polska on the preparation of design documentation and author’s supervision for the construction of the Wronów-Rozwadów-Strachocina gas pipeline, GAZ-SYSTEM announced earlier today. The pipeline, spanning 247 kilometres, will connect the compressor station and hub in Wronów (west-central Poland) with the gas hub in Strachocin (southeastern Poland) and the completion of the design works is expected in 2025.

The project is part of the “Central East Corridor” investment program. In conjunction with the Gustorzyn-Wronów pipeline, it will be part of the main gas pipeline in central and southeastern Poland, forming a two-way network gas transport route from Lithuania, via Poland to Slovakia and in the future also reaching Ukraine. In the context of energy security, this route will make it possible to optimise the operation of the system and as a result, strengthen the regional security of supply.

As stated in GAZ-SYSTEM’s press release, this investment is also “in line with the concept of energy transformation through the development of the domestic natural gas market and increasing the possibility of connecting industrial customers, including energy and heat producers, to the grid.”

In terms of design, the construction is divided into two tasks: The Wronów-Rozwadów gas pipeline, approximately 107 kilometres long; and the Rozwadów-Strachocina gas pipeline, approximately 140 kilometres long. In addition, the project involves the construction of, among others: A connection with the existing transmission system in the Rozwadów pipeline junction; a connection with the existing transmission system in Głuchów; a blocking and venting system located near UGS in Husów; a blocking and venting system near EC Stalowa Wola; and fibre optic line along the entire route.
