GAZ-SYSTEM selects contractors for the construction of a gas pipeline to Dolna Odra Power Plant

Polish gas transmission system operator Gaz-SYSTEM signed a contract for the construction of a 63 kilometres tie-in gas pipeline that will connect the Dolna Odra Power Plant with the existing Szczecin – Lwówek gas pipeline.

The Dolna Odra Power Plant will use natural gas supplied to Poland via the expanded liquefied natural gas (LNG) Terminal in Świnoujście and the Baltic Pipe.

“Thanks to these strategic investments, GAZ-SYSTEM will provide access to a secure and stable energy source for the production of electricity to meet the needs of more than 1.5 million inhabitants and numerous industrial plants in the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship and its vicinity”, Artur Zawartko, Vice-President of GAZ-SYSTEM said.

In addition, a regulating and metering station will be built with a capacity of 250,000 m3/h for the connection. The tie-in gas pipeline will cross seven communities but bypass the residential areas. The completion of construction works is scheduled for 2023.
