The Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (GTSOU)’s General Director, Dmitro Lyppa together with Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Energy, Mykola Kolisnyk held a meeting with representatives of domestic gas production companies.
The meeting focused on the companies’ plans to maintain and increase gas production and opportunities for the Ukrainian gas transmission system (GTS) to contribute to the strategy of increasing production in all regions of Ukraine.
“The war has affected the industry, gas production companies have repeatedly come under missiles fire. Despite all the difficulties, the companies continue to work and produce gas, strengthening the country’s energy security. Growth in domestic gas production is a common goal for both the state and the producers,” said Artem Petrenko, Head of the Association of Gas Producing Companies of Ukraine.
In particular, the meeting’s agenda covered issues in optimising operations in the GTS, the need to introduce measures aimed at improving the quality of natural gas, connecting to the gas transmission network, and expanding the use of digital tools. Further reform of the country’s gas market, joint plans for decarbonisation, and research into hydrogen potential were also discussed.
“We greatly appreciate the efforts of Ukrainian producers to provide the country with gas, which means both heat and light. Our team works to ensure that Ukrainian gas encounters fewer obstacles on its way to the consumer. Therefore, it is very important that our plans with you are synchronised and coordinated,” said Mr Lyppa.
