The Executive Director of the Bulgarian gas transmission operator Bulgartransgaz, Vladimir Malinov signed a series of contracts with the General Director of the Moldovan state gas supplier Energocom, Victor Binzari. The first one, regarding the access and transmission of natural gas through Bulgartransgaz’s gas transmission networks. A second contract is for the use of a Virtual Trading Point and a further agreement for the purchase and sale of natural gas for balancing.

According to Bulgartransgaz, these signed documents create an opportunity for Moldova to diversify and increase the security of its natural gas supply thanks to the ensured access to alternative sources: the South-East Europe liquefied gas terminals as well as pipeline gas from Azerbaijan and other alternative suppliers.

Mr Malinov and Mr Binzari also discussed future cooperation between the two companies in connection with the projects for the expansion of the underground gas storage facility Chiren and the floating liquefied natural gas terminal near Alexandroupolis, where the Bulgarian operator has a 20 per cent shareholding.
