Ukraine’s nuclear company Energoatom signed a letter of intent with the Organisation of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI) on the implementation of joint projects with Canadian companies in the nuclear energy sector.
“We hope the dialogue initiated this year will allow us to find practical common interests for closer cooperation between Energoatom and Canadian partners,” said Acting President of Energoatom, Petro Kotin.
In the letter, the parties confirmed their intention to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and cooperation in the short run. The subject of mutually beneficial cooperation should be, in particular, the construction of new nuclear power units, hydrogen technologies, waste management and production of medical isotopes, regulatory harmonisation and other issues of mutual interest. The parties also plan to hold trade missions and seminars to exchange information on the latest world developments in nuclear energy, including small modular reactors.
