Polish Nuclear Power Plants to cooperate with Warsaw Technology University on nuclear workforce development

Polish state-owned special vehicle company Polish Nuclear Power Plants (Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe or PEJ) and Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) have signed a cooperation agreement on the development of a workforce for the country’s growing nuclear industry (7 August).

The cooperation between the two sides will include joint scholarship programs and internships for students from WUT. In particular, the agreement sets out plans for cooperation in developing and implementing scholarship programs and co-organising competitions for research papers and project competitions.

“The dynamic development of the nuclear sector and the acquisition of new competencies by Polish companies in connection with the acceleration of work on the implementation of the ‘Polish Nuclear Energy Program’ will require appropriately educated human resources. I believe that cooperation with one of the best technical universities in Poland will help to achieve this goal,” said Professor Krzysztof Zaremba, Rector of the WUT.

Both sides will also work together on a study program to enable WUT graduates to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to find employment in the nuclear sector.

There are already about 80 companies operating in Poland that work with suppliers of nuclear technologies worldwide, according to data from Poland’s Ministry of Climate and Environment.

An additional 300 entities are ready to join the Polish nuclear supply chain as part of the implementation of the Polish Nuclear Energy Programme, the Polish Climate and Environment Ministry said in a press release.
