Very strong interest in DESFA’s auctions to reserve Revithoussa’s gasification capacity until 2027

The auction process of Greece’s natural gas transmission system operator DESFA for the commitment of unloading slots and gasification capacity at the Revithoussa LNG Terminal for the period 2023-2027 is attracting strong interest from both domestic and foreign users. Last month, the annual planning for the years 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 was finalised, while the relevant process for 2027 was recently completed.

For the year 2023, all 26 slots offered were reserved and corresponded to the unloading of a total quantity of 19 terawatts (TW). In overall, 8 users participated in the process, with all the offered slots being reserved by 4 domestic and 3 foreign users. Taking into account the auctions carried out in 2021, for the year 2023, overall 43 slots have been reserved for the unloading of 36 TW from 4 domestic and 3 foreign users. The reserved Gasification Capacity for 2023 corresponds to 80 per cent of the Maximum Gasification Capacity (regasification) of the Terminal.

For the Year 2024, 25 of the 30 total offered slots were reserved for unloading a quantity of 17.5 TW. A total of 9 users took part in the process, of which 5 domestic and 3 international users bid. While, for the year 2025, 30 of the total 45 offered slots were reserved for the unloading of 25.5 TW by the 5 domestic and 1 foreign user who participated.

For the year 2026, 21 out of the 45 offered slots were reserved and for the year 2027, in the auction that was completed the previous days, 21 of the total 45 offered slots were reserved.

The significant interest of users forms a favourable condition regarding the security of supply of the country and the wider region, given the significant increase in exports to Bulgaria and the wider region of South-Eastern Europe, which has been recorded in the past year.
