Once live, the software package will calculate not only the volume of gas but its quantity in energy units as well.
“A clear, transparent and unified energy metering system is one of the key tasks facing all Naftogaz Group companies. By going live with this modern software product, Ukrgasvydobuvannya confirms its readiness to systematically work in the new environment and to switch to natural gas metering in energy units”, Naftogaz CEO, Yuriy Vitrenko noted.
Quantification of gas volumes by using energy units is a common practice globally but in Ukraine, a different method of accounting is used which calculates cubic meters and does not cover the fuel’s calorific value.
“Until recently, creation of a single software package for the recording and processing of information from a vast number of devices serving different purposes was considered impossible. But our experts have pushed the envelope, and with Bee-UGV they connected 3,176 metering units into a single system. If need be, we are now able to track real-time readings from 100 metering units simultaneously”, said Sergiy Fedorenko, Chief Commercial Officer of JSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya.
The new software package allows prompt receipt and analysis of information from automated metering units for natural gas, oil and gas condensate, formation water, electricity, flow and laboratory devices used for determining the physical and chemical parameters of natural gas.
The technology was developed by specialists of JSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya and the Research and Development Institute of Gas Transport (JSC Ukrtransgaz).
