Moldova’s SME to implement green actions

A special program for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to implement green actions was launched in Moldova.

The Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Sergiu Răilean stressed the importance of a green economy especially for those businesses that can increase the competitiveness of domestic products.

“We all want our businesses to grow in harmony with the environment,” Mr Răilean said. “The Ministry encourages and supports SMEs that want to develop green business processes, produce and provide eco-services. I urge entrepreneurs to turn environmental challenges into new business opportunities.”

The Program, unveiled during an online conference, brought together about 300 entrepreneurs, local public authorities, environmental protection institutions, as well as representatives of the Delegation of the European Union to Moldova, the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

The Program will provide support, consultancy and ecological training. At the same time, it will focus on research and development and exchange of good practices at national and European level regarding the application of the principles of the green economy and the circular economy.

“Through this tool, we want to inspire and support as many businesses as possible in the process of implementing green actions,” underlined Iulia Costina, general manager of the Organisation for Small and Medium Enterprise Sector Development (ODIMM). “We are convinced that the local business environment will offer high value-added and eco-friendly products on foreign markets at competitive prices and high quality. Only together can we build a sustainable economy.”
