Southeastern Europe has potential to produce and transport green hydrogen, Bulgarian minister says

During a meeting with Robert Habeck, Germany’s Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Bulgaria’s minister of Energy Rumen Radev underlined the potential of Bulgaria and Southeastern Europe for the production and transfer of green hydrogen to Western Europe.

For the necessary infrastructure, it was noted the possibility of using European funds as well as the importance of attracting private investors. Both Ministers agreed that timely planning of the hydrogen infrastructure, specifically in the region of Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the establishment of a common approach in the field of the development of a hydrogen economy in the EU countries, is of key importance.

The two Ministers agreed to create a working group with the participation of EU stakeholders, involving also Ukraine, to determine the parameters of the future European hydrogen transport infrastructure.
