Ukraine’s Energy Ministry German Galushchenko and Azerbaijan’s Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Ukraine Seymour Mardaliyev held a meeting on Monday (9 October) to discuss assistance for the Ukrainian energy sector and deepening cooperation in the oil and gas industry.
“We highly value our cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy sector, and we hope that this collaboration will continue to strengthen,” said Minister Galushchenko.
The minister thanked Azerbaijan for the support provided to Ukraine’s energy sector. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine has received 10 shipments of humanitarian aid from Azerbaijan for the energy sector, including 50 backup power stations and 45 power transformers. Another significant batch of new equipment to restore distribution networks is expected to arrive by the end of the year.
In terms of cooperation in the oil and gas industry, both sides discussed the storage and transit of resources. The Ukrainian energy minister emphasised that intensifying Ukraine’s cooperation with Azerbaijan in this area will not only allow individual countries to reduce their dependence on Russian energy sources but will also enhance the energy security of the entire region.
