TAURON has invested over 100 million euros to modernise the power grid in Lower Silesia

Poland’s energy holding company TAURON has allocated over 500 million zlotys (approximately 107 million euros) in 2021, to modernise and expand the power grid in the Lower Silesia region.

“Lower Silesia is an area of great economic diversification,” underlined Jerzy Topolski, Vice President of TAURON, pointing out that is one of the most visited voivodeships in Poland, something that requires adjusting the way the company operates the power grid.

In particular, last year, work continued on the construction of one of the largest power stations in Poland, the power line of Pasikurowice which will improve the reliability of the power supply to the Wrocław agglomeration.

“Pasikurowice is an important, technically complicated and high-budget project,” explained Robert Zasina, CEO of TAURON Dystrybucja. “Works of this type last several years and they affect how energy can be supplied to a very large number of customers.”

Currently, he explained that the company is carrying out tasks to adapt the grid infrastructure to the growing renewable energy capacity installed.
