Poland and Ukraine coordinate first daily auction for Rzeszów-Chmielnicka NPP connection

Polish electricity transmission network operator PSE announced last Tuesday (16 January) that the Joint Allocation Office has completed the first coordinated daily auction for booking transmission capacities on the cross-border connection between Rzeszów in Poland and Chmielnicka nuclear power plant (NPP) in Ukraine.

Transmission capacities on this connection were previously reserved through unilateral monthly auctions. Market participants had to separately acquire transmission rights in auctions organised by PSE and Ukrenergo.

Thanks to the coordinated daily auctions, market participants will now be able to acquire transmission rights on both sides of the border within a single auction for each day, rather than for the entire month, PSE noted in a press release.
