Power synchronisation with continental European grids is one of the main priorities for all Baltic countries, as underlined by the Ministers of Energy of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.
As pointed out by Minister Dainius Kreivys, Lithuania is allocating all the necessary resources and making every effort to implement the synchronisation.
“We must strive for the maximum resilience of the electrical systems and prepare for a faster synchronisation,” he said.
Indeed, under current circumstances, the synchronisation of the Baltic States with continental Europe is gaining even greater importance. Lithuania plans to be ready by the need of 2023.
At the same time, Minister Kreivys reminded how important is to increase the share of renewables in the country’s energy mix: Lithuania aims to have 93 per cent of its electricity produced by solar and wind. It is expected that by 2030, 3.6 gigawatts (GW) of onshore wind, 1.4 GW of offshore wind and 4.5 of solar will be installed.
