Serbia’s green agenda will not leave anyone without a job

Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy, Zorana Mihajlovic is sharing the vision of a green agenda that will not leave anyone without a job, but on the contrary, will accelerate economic growth and ensure long-term energy stability.

“The Green Agenda is our growth model and an example that we can have enough energy produced in a sustainable way,” she said speaking as a guest on the morning program of K1 television. “By passing the law, we have created a basis for increasing solar power plants, wind power plants, biomass, biogas. The Law on Energy Efficiency and Rational Use of Energy and the Law on the Use of Renewable Energy Sources will enable households to reduce consumption and costs of electricity, but will also contribute to a healthier environment and increase the share of energy obtained from renewable sources.”

However, she pointed out that a change of mindset and behaviour is needed among Serbians.

“We are still negligent towards the environment, we are still throwing garbage, when you go through Serbia, the rivers are full of waste, the forests are full of bags, after all the environmental protests in Belgrade, chaos remains,” she underlined. “Our consciousness must change.”
